On Monday, July 15th, 2013 SEPTR board member Kris Molendyke met with the Birdsboro Municipal Authority to discuss the future of the reservoir trail system. Led by local rider and Senior Science Director of the Natural Lands Trust, Dr. James F. Thorne Ph.D., the two proposed plans to raise funds for Birdsboro mountain bike trails. The proposal was well received by the local government and land manager.
"I have hiked the grounds many times, and it would be great to have these areas accessible [to cyclists]."Birdsboro Municipal Authority Chairman Theodore Morse in the Reading Eagle
The project is still in a very early stage and its first goal is to fund a master trail plan to be developed by IMBA Trail Solutions. The final goal is to have developed a sustainable trail system at Birdsboro. Since it is within riding distance to the well-established trail system at French Creek State Park, riders would have the opportunity to visit and enjoy both locations during the same ride.
Further detail from the meeting can be found in the Reading Eagle coverage.
